Sunday, March 8th  the congregation of Community of Hope will extend a joyous congratulations  and welcome to Sidney Adams and Lynne Owre, who were commissioned to join the Stephen Ministry Leadership Team during worship service on March 8th.  Their commissioning celebrates a fifty-hour in-depth training and preparation for leadership of this special program.  As a Stephen Ministry congregation, Community of Hope is part of a big network of Christian care.  There are thousands of Stephen Ministry congregations representing more than 90 Christian denominations across the U.S., Canada and the world.  Stephen Ministry headquarters is based in St. Louis, Missouri, and can connect our Stephen Leaders with Stephen Ministry congregations virtually everywhere in the country.  So if you have a relative or friend far away who is in need of care, talk to one of our Stephen Leaders.  They may be able to connect your friend to a Stephen Ministry congregation in his or her own neighborhood.

This is YOUR ministry!  It is an important way that members of Community of Hope care for one another.  If you are going through a difficult time, consider having a Stephen Minister.  Or, if you know of someone else who is facing difficulties, suggest that they request a Stephen Minister.

If you are interested in learning more about our Stephen Ministry program or would like to be a Stephen Minister – we are holding Informational Sessions between services at 10 a.m. Sunday, April 19th, May 3rd and 17th; we will also have a booth at the Ministry Fair on May 31st.  Stephen Ministry training will be held again this year in the fall – our training schedule will be available at the Informational Sessions.

The Stephen Ministry Symbol

The symbol for Stephen Ministry is a cross and a circle along with a broken person and a whole person.  The broken person behind the cross symbolizes the brokenness in our lives due to our sin and imperfectness.  The whole person in front of the cross symbolizes the wholeness we can only receive through the cross of Jesus.  The circle symbolizes both the wholeness we receive through Christ and God’s unending love for us.

Who is Stephen Ministry for?

Anyone going through difficult times who needs someone to care, listen, and share God’s love with them on a one-to-one, confidential basis.
