The Outreach Team, with
new Church council representative Dana Eaton, is taking a new
direction in 2009. The broad focus of this team is to find ways
for congregation members to make God’s love known outside the
walls of the church. It is vitally important that we welcome
people when they come to church, especially for the first time
(I talked about this last month in this article) And it also an
important part of our calling not to wait for people to come
but to go out and make God’s love known. After discussion and
prayer, the Outreach Team is talking with Wilsonville civic
leaders, school administrators and local pastors to survey
areas of needs in the community and current resources
available. Once we have complied the results of the survey,
we’ll be distributing the results to those who contributed along
with letting the congregation know areas of need. After you have
the results,we want you to pray about where Community of Hope
could begin to serve people in need and how you might become
personally involved. With guidance from the Holy Spirit, I
hope we can put into practice what Paul says in Philippines
3:4-5, “None of you should look out just for your own good.
You should also look out for the good of others. You should
think in the same way “Christ Jesus does.”
